What is the GameCube?

Launched in 2001, The Nintendo GameCube was Nintendo’s fourth home video game console.

It is the successor to the Nintendo 64 and predecessor to the Nintendo Wii. Over 22 million GameCubes were sold worldwide, and over 200 million games.

The Nintendo GameCube was the first Nintendo console to use optical discs to store games, in the GameCube’s case mini-DVDs.

How much does a GameCube cost?

A second-hand GameCube console in good condition can be picked up for as little as £20. Expect to pay £80+ for a new console – as these are no longer manufactured a new, boxed GameCube will cost a lot more.

Can I play GameCube games on my Wii?

Yes! The Nintendo Wii console is backward compatible with all official Nintendo GameCube software, as well as Nintendo GameCube Memory Cards and controllers. So yes, you can play almost all GameCube games on your Wii, and use GameCube controllers.
